Baptism is the beginning of a child's great journey of faith, and the beginning of a person's relationship with Jesus Christ.
Baptism is the beginning of a child's great journey of faith, and the beginning of a person's relationship with Jesus Christ. Before having your child baptized, you will need to choose one or two individuals to serve as a godparent.
The godparent is meant to be a role model, setting a good example of what it means to live a faithful Catholic life; a companion on the journey of faith; and a witness to the community that the child and family are ready to celebrate the sacrament of baptism.
Therefore, the individual you choose as your child's godparent must be a fully initiated Catholic, which means they have received all three Sacraments of Initiation — Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation. They should be 16 years of age or older and be actively practicing and living their faith. If you choose to have two godparents, at least one of the two individuals must meet the above requirements.
Both parents and godparents are required to attend a Baptism Preparation class before their child can be baptized. We are pleased to continue offerring our online Baptism Preparation Class for the foreseeable future via Zoom. Please see our current schedule of upcoming classes below, all of which begin at 6:00pm:
March 25, 2021
May 20, 2021
If you would like to participate in this class (whether or not you have your child baptized here), please email Pat Linton.
If you would like to have your infant(s) baptized at Holy Trinity, please complete the Baptismal Request & Information form (it is a fillable PDF), and email it to Pat with any other questions.
Note: please download and save the completed form to your computer with a new file name before sending it in, to ensure your responses are stored/saved correctly. This will help reduce the chances of us receiving a "blank" form. Thanks!
Baptism for children aged 7 and up is a slightly different process, called RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation for Children). These children attend classes to better understand what the sacraments are, and they are baptized at the Easter Vigil Mass. For more information or to register for classes, contact Chris Storm.
