They are back! In case you have not heard, the Farm to Family emergency food boxes are being distributed again each Thursday at 9am. We work with our church neighbors next door at Beaverton Foursquare to distribute 900 boxes of fresh, nutritious foods. The boxes contain produce, dairy products, meat and more. We were thrilled to learn that a local distributor, Pacific Coast Fruit Company, was again selected. They do an excellent job and are a true joy to work with. I take the opportunity to talk with many who come as they are waiting for the process to begin. I hear over and over again the impact these boxes have on the families, many of whom are struggling to put food on the table due to job loss associated with Covid. I also talk to many who come to pick up for neighbors, or communities, who do not have the means to come themselves. It is a true blessing to be a part of such an impactful outreach. This effort is funded by the Federal government and will run through February. It is expected that there will be an immediate 30 day extension taking us through March at which time a need evaluation will be done. Two extensions of 90 days each will then be considered. All hope and pray that by the end of one of these periods we will be through the worst of this and the need will diminish. Please join in that prayer. If you, or someone you know could use one of these boxes, please come to Beaverton Foursquare parking lot on Thursday mornings. We start at 9am, but it goes quickly so I encourage you to not come late. No appointment or proof of need is required. You stay in your vehicle and one of us will load the boxes in for you. Once we start loading it goes very quickly as we load upwards of six vehicles at a time. Our own Knights are there helping to guide traffic. I am pleased to say no accidents or smashed toes so far! If you, or someone you know, needs food and you cannot make Thursday morning, please come to our Food Closet. While everything is now done outside, we sill offer a large variety of items including produce, meat, eggs, milk, bread, canned items and other staples. Because of your generosity, we have plenty of food to feed those in need. Please be certain to check in on your neighbors and let them know we are here to help.
