Many of you continue to ask me questions about the Beaverton Resource Center; mainly what is it and why is it needed. If you go to our website you will find a statement that we hope answers that question: “Founded on the understanding that economic insecurity is often the result of interlaced issues, the Beaverton Resource Center offers a central hub for individuals and families living in the Beaverton area to easily find help. With a broad range of social service partners in one place, we empower those dealing with hunger, homelessness, and poverty to create stability for a better tomorrow. “ In a nutshell, those dealing with financial difficulties often have more than just one challenge or one issue that contributed to their struggles. Trying to find the resources needed to help address these various aspects can be difficult by itself; finding them at a single location is nearly impossible. The Beaverton Resource Center understands these challenges and is working hard to address them by being that place for people to contact. By partnering with others, we are creating a network of services that, when combined together, provides a more comprehensive solution that better addresses the multi-faceted set of issues faced by so many. Do we have all of the answers? Not even close! But we are confident that over time we can make a difference. As we like to say we are “connecting those in our community struggling with hunger, housing insecurity and poverty to local resources so that they can make a lasting change for the better.” For more information please visit beavertonresourcecenter.org or email me at [email protected].
