My wife Cathie and I recently took a trip to California to visit her family in the San Luis Obispo area. One of the things we occasionally do when we go is to visit the Missions that were founded in the 1700’s. While there is certainly some controversy with how the Missions went about their work of conversion, there is no doubting the impact their presence had in the history of the State. Many of these Missions have been restored and are active parish churches today, each with their own unique history and beauty. For more information about the Missions please go to:

During this last visit we had the chance to see the Mission in Santa Barbara as well as the one in Carmel (San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo). I thought I would share a few of the photos I took while there.
