HELP WANTED
Faith Café is a ministry that Holy Trinity has been involved with for many, many years. It is a unique ministry in that multiple churches of different faiths work together to provide a hot meal once each week. The meal is served every Sunday at 5:00pm at Bethel Congregational Church, which is located near the Beaverton City Library. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come. Seven churches rotate the cooking and serving responsibilities. In order to insure variety, menus are determined well in advance with the assistance and guidance of Faith Café board members. All of the food shopping is also taken care of. All the member churches need to do is to cook, serve and clean up after. My wife and I have been involved with this ministry for years and truly enjoy joining with our fellow volunteers in serving those who come for a meal.
While there are many people needed to make this ministry work, none of it can happen without the cooking crew. Holy Trinity has been very blessed with an outstanding group who gives 3–4 hours of their time every seven weeks to create delicious meals for 75–100 people. While they work hard, they always have a smile on their face. One of the crew members recently told me that true friendships have developed amongst themselves. While we are all eternally grateful for this team, they have informed us that after ten years of faithful service, they are ready to pass their ladles to someone else. They will be “retiring” at the end of December and would love to train a new crew before they do.
Do you like to cook? Do you have a heart for serving others? Do you have a few hours available every couple of months? If you answered ‘yes’ to these questions and would like to help, please email me ([email protected]) or call me at 503.641.1842. This is truly a great opportunity to live the Gospel as written in Matthew 25:31-46 “...For I was hungry and you gave me food. I was thirsty and you gave me drink…”
