Hello, everyone! Grow Group returns this week! Yaaaayyyy! (booo… — quiet, Fr. Dave!)
Ally and I are working on an exciting syllabus for the year. Questions around God’s existence, the nature of God’s Providence, the problem of Evil, a psychological look at the Book of Genesis, a unit on Catholic Social Teaching: these are just some of the topics we’re hoping to cover.
We’re also hoping to leave the last 15-20 minutes of each class in order to discuss “current events,” things that are happening in the Church and in the world, viewed through the lens of faith. You are all most welcome to join us — no need to have attended last year’s sessions, register, or anything like that. We’ll meet every Wednesday in the Fireside Room from 6:00–7:30pm.
Our first session is titled “Why do we Believe?” We’ll be talking about the experiences in our own lives that have led us to faith, and some of the traditional philosophical arguments for God’s existence as well. If you’d like to get a head start, take a look at this brief article that describes three dimensions of human existence that seem to point toward the existence of a Creator — creation, consciousness, and conscience:

One more week, and then The Man returns. Pray for me, that I can get all of my stuff moved out of his office and back in to my own in time!
