Hello everyone. This week I came across an interesting study by an economist from Dartmouth who found that happiness generally follows a “U” shaped curve over the course of one’s life, with unhappiness peaking around age 47 or so.
(Hmmm… right around the time many of us are beginning to pay college tuition bills….) After that, it’s all uphill! So cheer up, everyone, and pay attention to our seniors. They’re showing us the way!
One of the great blessings we have here at Holy Trinity is fantastic music ministry. Our choirs work hard to make our Masses beautiful, joyful, and prayerful. Ken Canedo is a vital part of our music ministry, accompanying on piano for our Sunday morning Masses as well as composing much of the music that we sing. Some of our most memorable pieces are the fruit of his prayer and effort.
Over the last few months, Ken has been hard at work with a fellow composer, Bob Hurd, putting together a new album of liturgical music:
We Should Glory. It will be
released this summer and includes a new Mass setting, called
Mass of the Compassionate Christ.
We are debuting this new setting at Holy Trinity this weekend, and Oregon Catholic Press (OCP) will here to shoot video of Ken teaching
Mass of the Compassionate Christ to the choir and congregation at our 9:30am Mass. This video will be then used as a teaching tool for other parishes around the country.
Looking forward to hearing this new setting, Ken, and eager for the freshness and insight it will bring to our Masses!
