Are you reading the Gospel of Mark? I am! Let’s use Fr. Dave’s method of praying with scripture with a passage from Mark 4:35-41—Jesus Calms the Storm at Sea.

First, read the passage. What do you notice about the passage? Using Fr. Dave’s questions, what are you grateful for in this passage? (I am grateful for how Jesus calms the seas. It reminds me that Jesus can help with the rough patches in my life, I just need to ask.)

Now, what are you sorry about? (I am sorry when I like the diciples, doubt and forget to ask for Jesus’ help when things are difficult in my life.)

Now, what do you ask of God, OR what is God asking of you? (I hear God reminding me to trust Him. Jesus is right there to help me, if only I would ask and trust Him.)

Now do you see? Keep reading, using the questions to begin a conversation with Jesus, with Him asking the questons. When you are finished reading and have talked to Jesus using those simple questions, simply rest quietly in God’s presence.
