“Prepare a way for the Lord,” we hear at Mass, and so Advent continues, the start of Week 2. In these times, with COVID curbing our activities, we have no choice but to wait, but we are enjoined to PREPARE. “Prepare what?” you ask. Our hearts! And then, by extension, our preparation becomes infectious. Not COVID-infectious, but infused with all that comes from welcoming Jesus into our lives.
This year we will see that it’s possible to welcome Him without all the glitz and clutter. In fact, haven’t we learned that, ready or not, HE COMES?!? It begins with the
“Good News” (MK 1:1-8). In
“making His paths straight” we don’t make Him work as hard, as we have in past years, making Him compete with what we think is important.
Instead, we do as we are asked by
St. John the Baptist, to repent, discard and make room.
Be READY! The only perfection in this world of ours is God Himself.
Let Him in! First, I can experience for myself the fullness and satisfaction that only Jesus can give us. Then, by extension, our piece of the world can see, through us, a heart, imperfect as it is, that is ready for Christmas and what God has in store for us, when we
welcome Him in.
We
prepare and make clear access for Him to come and take up residence in our lives. As followers of Jesus, if we do this, evidence will be everywhere, and
“all mankind shall see the salvation of God. ALLELUIA!”
Happy Advent, everybody. Jesus is coming! Be ready! +
