All of us have
‘it’, that
‘one thing’ that is more important to us than anything else. Sometimes we can name it, sometimes not. Sometimes, depending on how we choose, we can find ourselves in a bad spot, depending on what the
‘it’ is. Someday, all of us will have something bad happen.
Really bad, perhaps tragic. It’s the way of our broken world. And when that bad thing happens, our
‘it’, if chosen wisely, will get us through. If not,
‘it’ will let us down.
Instead of an
‘it’, I want to talk about a
‘Who’, that when chosen, will always be there when things get tough. I am speaking about God of course. With Him, we get three distinct persons in that one God to help us out and hold us up. I am not suggesting a Gospel of prosperity where nothing bad happens to believers, but rather, where a firm believer in God, finds the spiritual stamina to weather even the most difficult
circumstances.
So how do we allow God to be this for us? Simply by making Him
‘that one thing’ more important than anything else. Then we bring him along as the center of the other things of importance in our lives, as He was the giver of those things in the first place. I will tell you a secret, He is already at the center of our lives. If we don’t know that, we are making Him compete for the center spot. More about this next week. In the meantime, need help, ask God!
May God become the strong center of all our lives. May the sturdiness of His presence and grace uphold us, no matter what we face. +
