It’s
GAUDETE SUNDAY—We are halfway through Advent, and Gaudete Sunday marks the midway point. We see a rose color candle in our Advent wreath. Gaudete means
REJOICE!
What Shall We Do To Prepare? First, we know it’s
TWO-FOLD. It is one part preparing and one part waiting. Everything the Church does to prepare us is always to make us
holier versions of ourselves, more aligned to the way that Christ calls us to be.
Our praying this Advent allows God to transforms us to more closely be someone who is holy, watchful, patiently waiting for the Christ our heart yearns for. And we
WAIT, as Fr. Dave said last Sunday,
“waiting in joyful hope”. Hopeful for a glimpse of Heaven. Our Epistle today gives us the roadmap:
“Brothers and sisters: Rejoice in the Lord always. I shall say it again: rejoice! Your kindness should be known to all. The Lord is near. Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
(Phil 4:4-7)
Let’s do as St. Paul says: “Rejoice in the Lord!” Show our kindness to everyone. Remember that Jesus is right here, so there is nothing to be afraid of. Talk to God with our thankful prayers, expecting God’s grace and peace, guiding our minds and hearts.
What are we grateful for, sorry about, asking? Tell Jesus this Gaudete Sunday. +
