Do you think that might be what’s missing in our world today? Truth, I mean, or lack there-of, or worse, wrong? In our cities around the nation, parts of the world we are
living in has an aura around parts of it that is dark, sometimes the “double darkness” that Frank Sheed is talking about.
 
Sheed is an author, theologian, apologist and Catholic thinker that I really appreciate. He also said this:
 

 
What if we imagine this? A country filled with people of good will assuming the best about their neighbors. What if the collective memory of the national community had a communal vision that generally loved their country, appreciated the values they were founded on and knew its history and accomplishments, and was generally grateful to be living there? What if this multitude recognized the goodness at the heart of the best things in this country and invested their time in making those things grow? Conversely, what if this multitude continued to fight all the ways that things have not worked while never forgetting to remember the best of what we have to offer?
 
This is still the greatest country in the world, even in its most imperfect moments. May God bring unity in the midst of our division, and an end to the violence that is ripping our cities apart, and may we remember a truth that comes from God in order to bring light back to our country and its multitudes.
 
As Sheed suggests, may we be blessed with a common love to unite around, founded on the goodness of our God who is the giver of all that we have to be grateful for.
