Summer 2020………continues. I am pleased to hear of some normalcy for some folks, but continue to hear of major concern, anxiety, and setbacks for others. Sad. Maybe a week of hot weather will fix everything. Well, we know that isn’t the case, but still, having the sun shining makes it at least feel like summer is here.
We have had two staff changes this summer. Nick Krautscheid is our new Youth Ministry Coordinator. Susan has stepped down to be able to spend more time with her own family. In the fall of 2019, Nick did a long-term substitute teaching stint here for our 8
th grade teacher who was out with a newborn. Newly graduated then from U of P, he did a fabulous job. He will now (in addition to doing parish youth ministry), be working with our most gifted students in our school, challenging them to the breaking point (well, maybe a bit less than that!). Welcome Nick.
Cindy Hittner, our school’s administrative assistant, has retired after 7 years with us. We hear she is thoroughly enjoying retirement! Tabitha Spieler has been in training last month so is fully onboard and off to a great start. Welcome Tabitha.
The rest of us are fully engaged in the pastoral ministry of this fine parish. As I have written before, the needs of a community this size continue and in many ways have increased due to COVID-19. I am hugely grateful for the staff we have here and am proud of the skill, dedication, and effectiveness each of them displays.
Blessings to Jovie Hagen, who was baptized this weekend!
Last week, we received word that Ken Rentmeester has passed away. Ken was a longtime parishioner here and a truly delightful man. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, rest in peace.
