Thanksgiving week! I am grateful to be here as your pastor — and for the inspiration I get from so many of you daily. Thank you!
Gratitude is a necessary and normative part of an authentic spirituality. As Christians, we are indebted to Jesus for doing what we cannot and could not do. Our own efforts, no matter how disciplined or heroic, cannot save us. We are saved by Jesus taking on our humanness in its entirety — with all its brokenness and rebellion. Jesus brought all that with him to the cross, humbly submitted to death, and was raised up to new life.
In a nutshell, that is our faith — we are baptized into Jesus’ death and Resurrection. Thank you, Jesus! And, thank you, Jesus, that you promise to walk with us daily in all our ups and downs, that you will never ever let go of us, and that you are eager to be in personal relationship with us. Pure gift, all the way!
Thanksgiving Day Mass will be at 9:00am. If you wish to bring food for our Food Closet, we will have a food procession after the homily.
Blessings on our children who made their First Confession this weekend. Fr. Hans and I welcomed around 100 children to the healing forgiveness offered by Jesus through this sacrament. These are the words on the prayer card the children were given. Be assured the same words are spoken to each one of us!
Hi! You just made your first confession. Good job! Anytime you ask me to forgive you, I will. Anytime you ask for my help, I will gladly help you. I am eager to be your friend. Please talk to me often! I love you. Jesus.
Congratulations to Aric Armon, who was baptized and confirmed this weekend in preparation for his upcoming wedding. God bless him and continue to guide him on his faith journey and his soon-to-be marriage.
