Winter is here! Many of our retired folks have left for warmer locations: smart people! For the rest of us, it’s time to hunker down and make the best of it.
I am looking carefully for anything outside that is blooming right now, and appreciating greatly any color at all. I routinely go for a short kayak run on Fridays and last week, although it was dry, it was totally in shades of gray. There was a sublime beauty in it even so.
Here is my reminder to you again about our Mass schedule in inclement weather. We will continue our regular schedule for weekends and weekdays no matter what. I can write this with confidence since both Fr. Hans and I live so close by. So, if you can make it safely, you won’t be turned away.
If in doubt, especially for our seniors, please stay home. We have no way of clearing the parking lot of ice/snow so I urge you in the strongest way to not risk falling. Obligation to participate in weekend Mass is automatically dispensed in the event of bad weather.
On a similar note, with flu season in full swing, along with the usual winter colds, as your pastor I ask you to stay home if you are not well — for your sake and for the well-being of all of us here. As with bad weather, there is no obligation to participate in Mass if you or your kids are not well. And exposing all of us to a nasty bug has to be at least a form of “mortal sin”! Got it? Thank you.
Our school’s Open House takes place this Sunday from 12:00-1:30pm. If you are interested in having your children or grandchildren or neighbors or friends in our school, you are most welcome to come for a tour and to get more information. See the school page in this bulletin as well. I am immensely proud of the work our school does through the skillful work of our teachers, staff, and generous support of our
parish.
Finally, thank you to all who put on a great Epiphany party last Sunday. What a happy event it was with our usual huge crowds, abundant food, and positive spirit. Christmas tidings reigned!
