Okay good people, we are in the middle of Holy Week and about to enter into the Sacred Triduum — the three most sacred days of our liturgical year. I am grateful for the response we have been getting to our online information, recordings, and our weekly Masses. Thanks for adapting!
My own inner mindset is shifting as well. No longer am I just yearning for the time we can get back to “normal,” but I am seeing in powerful ways that the Holy Spirit is working directly through our “new normal.” I want to be fully open and accepting of how the Spirit is leading, and not be clinging to the past.
I encourage you, too, to be looking and pondering the good that is at play within us and all around us. I have heard some great testimonies from parishioners who are using technology really well for inspiration and are making deliberate decisions to max out this time — for their own benefit and in service to others.
Reminder: Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Vigil services will be online at 7:00pm each evening RIGHT HERE on our homepage! And Easter Sunday Mass will be available any time from 8:00am onward.
Because we cannot do the sacraments of initiation at the Vigil, that service will be very different from our usual Vigil — which as you know is not at all like a normal Sunday Mass. I write this to you now, just so you won’t be surprised. We are adapting as best we can, and as I wrote above, the Holy Spirit is filling in the pieces!
Good news: no parking issues foreseen this year! Good news: no need to come early to make sure you get a seat! Good news: no line at the bathrooms! Good news: no expectation that you dress up!
I look forward to joining with you in these liturgies, in our 2020 fashion! If you know of inactive Catholics who maybe come on Christmas and Easter only, please reach out and invite them to join us online. I am hoping we can find some new ways of connecting in an ongoing way with some who choose to not come to church.
Love, Fr. Dave
