Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP) is a parish renewal process that has existed since 1969 and been recommended by the Renewal office of the U.S. Catholic Conference of Bishops. It has been the primary instrument of personal and parish renewal in over 600 parishes in 40 states. It is centered on a parish renewal weekend and stresses a clear focus on the Gospel.
From 2009-11, Matthew Kelly investigated all renewal programs in the U.S. to determine which created the most dynamic Catholics. CRHP was #1 in his findings. In fact, Kelly was so impressed he BOUGHT the licensing rights to CRHP! He found CRHP to create more Dynamic Catholics than any other.
CRHP furthers personal conversion and community, ministry, prayer, healing, holiness, spiritual growth and gospel service. CRHP emphasizes continued growth in Christian life during our daily contacts with others and offers an excellent opportunity to meet other parishioners. It is an opportunity to say “yes” to a closer and deeper relationship with Christ.
The weekend draws participants closer to Christ through the lived experiences of other parishioners. CRHP provides an atmosphere for individual spiritual growth through prayer and personal reflection. You can share conversations and thoughts (as much or as little as you desire) with others in the parish who also encounter many of the same demands of everyday life in family, society and at work. Sacraments are part of the weekend. Liturgies are celebrated both on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday evening, a Reconciliation service is offered as well.
How does the process work?
The renewal weekend is given for PARISHIONERS by PARISHIONERS and clergy. The weekend can be made as a renewal experience with no further commitments. However, many participants afterwards choose to form a new team and present the next weekend.
Who Attends?
CRHP is for parishioners 18 and older who are seeking spiritual renewal, desiring to grow closer to Christ, or searching for a deeper sense of purpose within the parish community. Praying for guidance is important. If you feel that Christ, through the Holy Spirit, may be calling you – come!
What is the Cost?
There is an $157 registration fee, which you can pay when you register online. Financial assistance from the parish is offered when needed. The spirit of CRHP is to make the experience available for all.
The weekends are be held at Our Lady of Peace Retreat Center, from 8:00am Saturday morning until 3:00pm Sunday. Participants will stay overnight at the Retreat Center in private rooms. Meals will be prepared by the sisters. The entire weekend is informal. Comfortable, casual attire is preferred. Every effort will be made to accommodate special needs.
