Many of you have reached out asking about the status of the three siblings that have been living in a garage for much of the school year. I am very pleased to say that, with the help of one of our
Random Angels, the siblings were able to secure an apartment to move into. While I know they will need additional assistance over the coming months, this is a significant step forward for them. Time for prayers of thanks and gratitude as well as continued blessings and protection for them! If you would like to join the
Random Angels, it is never too late (and never too soon…). Simply send me an email and I will add you to the distribution list. No pressure, no obligation. Help when you can, however you can.
Those of you familiar with the backpack program know that Holy Trinity works with several other churches (St. Cecilia’s, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and Sunset Presbyterian) to distribute back packs full of food each week to various schools within the Beaverton School District. We are now collectively supporting 15 schools with Montclair as our most recent addition. Holy Trinity directly supports 7 of the 15 schools. I recently presented to the City Of Beaverton Social Services grant committee in search of funding assistance for this coalition of churches. This is something I have done for the last 4 years with all churches sharing in the funding. The committee was surprised to learn that for this school year collectively we have already distributed 7,527 back packs which has fed over 35,000 people. I reminded them that while numbers are important and demonstrate how great the need is, this program is more about the impact on human lives. If we ever hope to break the cycle of poverty it is critical that we remove barriers, like hunger, that inhibit the kids from getting a good education. Please pray for all of those families who are dealing with food insecurity.
