Hard to believe, but I have been involved with the Outreach Ministry for seven years now. Along the way I have met many great people and learned a couple of valuable lessons. Lesson number one is that, even when things are looking a little uncertain, keep the faith; God ALWAYS provides. Lesson number two is one that I have known for many years but receive constant reminders of; Holy Trinity is the greatest parish PERIOD! (No bias here!) The support that each of you provides is unbelievable.
Over the last few weeks I have been sharing with you the unfolding story of the homeless teens who will be graduating from Beaverton High School. Working with student leaders from Club Hope, gift bags have been assembled for all 23 graduates. Starbucks and Subway gift cards will be included. All of this is due to your generosity. Others of you have contacted me since these articles started (you know who you are) and have offered even more support. As a result, additional gift cards from Target will be included. All of these things will have a significant and lasting impact on these grads.
I also mentioned we were working on trying to figure out how to provide a bar-b-que type party for these students. Once again one of our parishioners (you know who you are too) contacted me and said her company,
Bethany Public House, would like to provide a pizza party for the kids and their guests. Pizzas, salad, decorations, etc. All that is needed to feed those who come. They offered to host the event at
Bethany Public House, but due to logistics challenges I asked if we could pick the food up and serve it at Beaverton High School. “No problem”, was the response, “when do you want them?” Amazing! For those who do not know
Bethany Public House has been a strong supporter of our Food Closet by regularly donating a portion of their proceeds. Please be certain to watch the advertising section of the bulletin for their ads and then please support them. Yet another example of both Holy Trinity and community support for our outreach efforts.
Thank you
Bethany Public House and Holy Trinity parishioners.
You do make a difference!
