First, a big thank you to all who have already contributed to our Thanksgiving and Christmas gift card drive. Yes, it is a very different year, but with your help we will stall have the same great outcome for many, many families. This year we will be helping veterans, Rose Haven, Women’s Life Change Center, Family Promise, and more. I intend to get all the gift cards for both Thanksgiving and Christmas distributed soon. Doing so will allow families to enjoy Thanksgiving and/or take advantage of all of the sales going on. It’s not too late, so if you would like to help by making a donation, simply go to our
Holiday Outreach Donation webpage.
As always, thanks for making this happen!
You may have noticed a new addition near the Food Closet. We recently added a Tuff Shed building near the ramp. This building will help keep our volunteers dryer and warmer throughout the winter months. Yet another way we are “going with the pandemic flow." Our volunteers are a hardy bunch, but even they need a little love every once-in-awhile!
We recently learned that the Farm To Families emergency food box program will continue through December 16th. This is the USDA sponsored program where we work with our neighbors at Beaverton Foursquare to distribute 1,100 food boxes each Thursday. I am so grateful for our relationship with them. They not only have the perfect parking lot, but they also have the needed forklift and pallet jacks.
Volunteers from their church do all of the loading into the many, many cars that come while our own Knights of Columbus provide traffic control and more. We have been blessed with great weather since the beginning of the program, but as we see that is changing. Please pray for all of our volunteers, as well as those we serve, that they remain healthy throughout this year and 2021. And, as always, thank you for your support!
