Shortly after the holidays I received a card from someone that Holy Trinity had recently helped. Inside the Thank You card was a letter which I thought I would share with you in it’s entirety. First a little context. Around Thanksgiving I had received a call from someone in the Beaverton School district. They told me they were working with a family who was in serious housing trouble. The place they were living, and had lived for an extended period of time, was full of mold. The family did not realize this, but could not understand why Mom was having reoccurring bronchial issues; the son and husband were also beginning to experience similar symptoms. After multiple trips to the doctor they discovered the problem. Unfortunately the landlord drug their feet in getting the issue resolved so mom started sleeping in their car. Once the landlord agreed to fix the problem, the family was informed they would need to evacuate the apartment while the cleaning work was being done. The landlord made it clear no funds would be available to offset the incremental expenses they would have associated with living in a motel. Not having any funds themselves to use for a motel put this family into a very difficult situation. Because of your on-going generosity, Holy Trinity was able to provide this family with a place to stay while their home was being cleaned and made habitable for them again. This is the letter I received reads as follows: Dear Mr. Schmitt, I cannot fully express how grateful my family is to you and your church for giving us a place to live during what was a very difficult time in our lives. It has renewed my faith in the church. I had been sleeping in my car, ended up in the emergency room on three different occasions and was facing what seemed like insurmountable circumstances when you came to the rescue. As it was I, my husband and son all contracted Covid during our time in the motel that you so graciously provided; I cannot imagine what might have happened to us if not for your generosity. We have all three recovered and wanted to thank you as we have thanked our Heavenly Father many times for all that you have done and continue to do. With sincere gratitude…
