I comment regularly to people I see about how impressed I am with our summer attendance here at Holy Trinity. I am grateful to see our Masses full week after week, holiday weekends and summertime included. Well done, folks.
A visitor commented this past weekend on how welcoming and “alive” our parish is. He travels extensively and mentioned that he goes to a different parish almost every weekend — and that Holy Trinity stands out! Thanks to each of you for your active participation, worship, and warmth to each other and visitors. Heard another fun comment over the weekend, this one from a parishioner to another parishioner who was on “door duty” as a greeter:
“Only in church would you have a Beaver hold the door open for a Duck!”
Yep! Love it. All barriers are removed when we focus on the ONE TRUE GOD.
Youth Ministry is in need of more adults who have a passion for our young folks. Each Sunday evening, we need to have several adults present along with Susan and Fr. Hans since the group is split up for different activities and options. We use the gym, the fire pit, the ropes course, game room, and actually have some teaching time too! Any adults wishing to assist please contact Susan at
[email protected], or call our office.
The group was at the beach last Sunday and had a blast. Their regular 6:30pm gathering this Sunday in the Fireside Room is open to any Middle or High School youth who would like some fun, food, and faith. No pre-registration necessary. Just come! Bring a friend along if you wish.
We have a Holy Day this week in honor of the Assumption of Mary. Masses will be at 8:15am and 7:00pm on Wednesday, August 15th.
This is the final weekend we will have James here, our seminarian intern. He returns to Mt. Angel this week and begins his second year of Pre-Theology, which will prepare him for the graduate program the following year.
James has plugged into the life of the parish very fully — assisting at our weekend and daily Masses, shadowing me on many of the things I do daily, bringing communion to our homebound, leading a graveside service, leading a service for the residents at the Springs, and working with our staff. The pace here does not slow down during the summer, so we have given him a real taste of parish life.
The more I know James, the more I respect him and see in him qualities that will serve very well as a priest. Please continue your prayers for him and for Justin, our two seminarians from Holy Trinity.
