Mary, did you know? Did you know what your yes to the message of an angel would mean, for you, for the human race? You made that
“yes” seem so easy, so humbly firm in its insistence,
“be it done to me according to your word”.
Did you feel how much you were loved by God? Is that what formed your yes, or was it the supernatural grace from God Himself that infused your faith to do God’s will?
Highly favored. Do we even know what highly favored means much less requires?
You are the center of God’s plan, you and God’s son. Both, not either or.
“Hail, full of grace”, so the angel calls you, for it’s what and who you are, your royal title. If the angel calls you that, so does God.
As Elizabeth calls you,
“the mother of my Lord”, meaning
OUR LORD, the first, the Logos, the Word that spoke all creation into being, and now our baby king in your arms. Have we said
“thank you” and taken the time to consider, as Mary did? “
But Mary kept all these things, pondering them in her heart.”
Christmas is almost here, inviting us to ponder in our hearts the wonder of this holy mystery that changed the world forever.
Read the first two chapters of St. Luke’s Gospel and take to heart the spirit of these holy days.
“If in your heart you make a manger for His birth, then God will once again become a child on earth." (Angelus Silesius)
With God's grace be like Mary. Merry Christmas Everybody! +
