End of July greetings to each of you. I am encouraged when I have heard of couples and families who have found creative ways to get some away-time in this summer. We are so blessed here in Oregon, and to live in a part of Oregon that has so many escapes close to home, without need for flying or for border crossings.
My brother and I visited my niece and her family down near the Washington coast last week and it was such a pleasure seeing the roadside beauty and making even a day trip like that. It’s SUMMER!
Our Pastoral Council will resume its service to our parish this fall with new leadership and two new members. Maria Menor is our new chairperson and our new members are Nisha Kolattukudy and Don Hammond. Returning members are Rosemary Schaal, Gary Johnson, Brendan Pavelek, and Chris Bongen.
I am grateful to Elaine Workman and Michael Rossman for their service as they exit from the council. This group is responsible for advising me and the pastoral staff of the parish in ways we as a parish can best fulfill our mission to KNOW Jesus personally, GROW in that relationship, and GO forth and make a difference in the world.
And, a surprising update on the Walker Road expansion. We had a meeting with the county this past week and were informed that the phase of the project that would have required the demolition of our current office building has been postponed indefinitely. Hmmmmm. The work on the intersection of Murray and Walker, and of Park Way and Walker, will continue as planned. So, we have shelved plans to build the new office. Thankfully, our current office serves us just fine so this will spare us a lot of work, disruption, and expense.
Blessings to Rysha D’Souza and Elliott Ndriangu, who were baptized this weekend!
