This week, we are showcasing our parish school as Catholic Schools’ Week begins. Here’s a few facts for you: we have 308 students in our school, pre-K through 8
th grade. Our student body reflects the diversity of our parish and in addition includes 30 students who are not Catholic.
Tuition for those in the parish is $6,400. Financial aid is available. Class size is 30 students, but most of our individual subjects are taught with half of the class at a time. In addition to core classes (which includes religion), we have choir, band, chess, LEGO robotics, and foreign languages.
One of the things we committed to doing in our Catholic schools is integrate our relationship with Jesus into the entire school day. In addition to times specifically set apart for prayer, including weekly Mass, in our school we model and express our faith in everything from dealing with conflict on the playground, to the way we interact with people who think/act differently, and to the way we support students and families undergoing hardship or illness.
In my homily this weekend, I will be talking about the necessary connection between being “spiritual” and being religious. In our school we help our students be both: have a personal relationship with Jesus and know how that is supported and enriched by our religious practices.
Finally, a delicate reminder to our families with young children. Holy Trinity is committed to being especially welcoming to you and seeks to do all we can to support you and your family. We do have large crowds at most of our Masses and that can easily create distraction. The side chapel and the narthex were designed specifically with young families in mind, and we ask that if you have a child that is getting noisy, that you please simply walk into one of those areas until they quiet down. We have a significant portion of our parish that are older and have some hearing impairment, so this is a big help to them as well. Thanks to everyone for the patience and kindness that is necessary and almost always present!
Congratulations to Meliza Macagba and Michael Monzón who were married this weekend! Blessings to you both, and to all our married and engaged
couples.
Funeral services are planned for Fred Bieren on February 2
nd at 10:00am, and for Patricia Verbin on February 9
