Here we are mid-summer! I have three things to bring to your attention in this column.
First, I encourage you to reach out to Dustin, our summer seminarian. He will be here for another four weeks and part of the value of these internships is a chance to meet with as many parishioners as possible. I have fond memories of my own summer assignments as a seminarian years ago — and the individuals who invited me over for a meal and shared their lives and their hopes with me. Dustin can be reached here in our office (503.643.9528), via email (
[email protected]), or out in front of the church before or after any of our Masses.
Second, we are actively seeking more youth to participate in our 11:15am Sunday Masses: vocalists, instrumentalists, and cantors. If you are interested, Ken (pianist) and Mark are holding workshops on July 21
st and August 18
th immediately after the 11:15am Mass. Stop by and speak with them after any of the Masses, or go on our website to our
Youth Liturgy page to RSVP and learn more.
Finally, I alerted you over a year ago of the coming presence of L’Arche into what was previously our Ministry House. L’Arche is an international
federation of people with and without disabilities living in community. Our former Ministry House is becoming their Westside location, adding on to their two Portland locations.
The weekend of July 27–28, Andy Noethe, the director of L’Arche-Portland, will be speaking at all our Masses helping us see how we can be part of this wonderful ministry. If you wish to get more
information, visit our
L'Arche-Portland page.
Blessings to Cadyn Gates, Richard Neves IV, Melany Quinonez, Elijah Sandoval, and Tessa Walsh, who were baptized this weekend!
Last week, funeral services were held for John McKenzie, Tri Phan, and Elisabeth Wimsatt. May their souls and all the souls of the faithful departed, rest in peace.
