Okay good people, we are fully into the new normal! Who would have ever thought that for Lent in 2020 we would all be required to “give up” going to Mass?! In case you have not yet heard, Archbishop Sample has suspended all Masses in the Archdiocese until at least the 14
th of April. We are working with creative ways of staying connected and providing spiritual and pastoral support. Our office is open and our emails/phone are fully available to you if you have any needs—up to and maybe including toilet paper!
We will continue to record a Weekend Mass for you every Saturday and have it posted by 4pm or so. Last weekend we had 1300+ people watch it so that is very gratifying. I have a few suggestions for you as you get used to online Masses, knowing that this is a stopgap measure to carry us over until we can once again connect in our wonderful community—and maybe even TOUCH one another again. Imagine that!
Set a time for your family to watch the Mass—much as you decide which weekend Mass you would normally choose to go to.
Determine a place to watch it.
Turn off phones and try to eliminate distractions as much as possible.
Do NOT fast-forward thru my sermon or sleep thru it! Haha.
Try to have the same reverence for a sacred time as you would if you were in church.
Make the responses out loud. And join with us in the text for “Spiritual Communion”.
Have a treat afterwards and a brief conversation about what you just experienced.
I will have the next set of updates for you along with our weekend post, including the expected timeline on our transition to a new pastor here.
