Now that Spring Break is over our school is fully back in action, but not here in our building. I am impressed with our faculty and staff for the preparation they made for this the week before the “Shelter at Home” directive came out. They are working hard to provide quality teaching to their students through all of this and provide the necessary support for parents as well. Technology is being put to good use! Our teachers meet each morning for a faculty meeting via Zoom and are staying connected, sharing ideas, and supporting each other. Blessings to each of them and the families we are serving.
Yesterday Fr. Hans and I participated in a webinar with the Archbishop as he communicated with all of us priests. He extends his well-wishes to all of you as we walk through the “lentiest lent in our history” — not at all what we expected back when had Ash Wednesday a month ago!
We are working on Holy Week liturgies and although we will not even pretend they are the full experience, we will be providing an opportunity for our Holy Trinity community to share in these most holy days. What makes it especially difficult is the fact that these liturgies, more than all other ones, use all our senses to the max — smell, sound, taste, visual, touch — and that just cannot be fully captured digitally. May the Holy Spirit provide what we can’t.
Other than that, we are doing our best to maintain pastoral support through these unsettling days. I am doing appointments via phone or Zoom, RCIA is continuing their Tuesday night sessions via Zoom, and we will continue to provide changing content often on our website.
Also available on our website is a PDF copy of the Passion that we will read on Palm Sunday — I encourage you to download and print it or read it on your devices so you can join in during the Crowd part like you normally would.
Here’s my prayer for all of us from St. Francis of Assisi:
Lord, help me live this day, quietly, easily.
To lean upon Your great strength, trustfully, restfully.
To wait for the unfolding of Your will, patiently, serenely.
To meet others, peacefully, joyously.
To face tomorrow, confidently, courageously.
