Abide with Me these days of ADVENT: I’m waiting in joyful hope for the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. He Who is, was, and is to come. Jesus is the greatest of our sacred mysteries, and the season of Advent brings us face to face with this trifold mystery.
Advent! Although Christmas “stuff” has been out in the stores for weeks, we officially begin our preparation for Christmas this weekend. And, as you know our focus is a bit different from the commercial focus!
Is Jesus Christ my King? There comes a time when we all will have to answer this question definitively. My guess is that when He asks, He will already know our answer.
Hello everyone. As Frs. Dave and Hans have indicated, these last weeks of the liturgical year turn our attention towards the end of time (the world’s, but also our own) and the account that we must all one day render to God for our lives.
Last weekend at Masses I reflected with you on the broader horizon these three phrases impel in us: I came from God; I belong to God; My destiny is God.
The Four Last Things: The Church is clear about the last things that I must face. They are the same for all of us: death, judgement, heaven, hell. (Not purgatory. Purgatory means we've made it and are on the way to heaven!)
November marks the final month in our Church liturgical calendar and our Scripture readings point towards eternal life and the end of human history. Everything in our Christian faith focuses on the person of Jesus Christ, and anything said then about eternity and the end of human history is definitively shaped by what Jesus has and continues to do.
Hello everyone! In honor of November, this month when we remember in a special way those who’ve gone before us, and in a special way the saints, here’s a couple of quotes with which to pray.
Into November we go! November begins with back-to-back liturgical celebrations of All Saints and All Souls. Our banners are up in the church with names of those whose funerals we had here at Holy Trinity in the last 12 months. Reviewing the names I am always struck with memories of each of them.
