Catholic Charities of Oregon is expecting another 75–100 families to arrive in the fall of 2022, mostly from Ukraine and some from Afghanistan. In partnership with the Refugee Care Collective, they have distributed 2,100 “Restart Kits” to over 250 refugee families in the last year. Refugees arrive in Oregon with few possessions, and have to quickly build their lives again. Restart Kits are plastic tubs filled with essential household items. Also provided are backpacks with school supplies and gift cards to Fred Meyer and Target for future needs.
You can build a Restart Kit or School Supplies Backpack any time during the year and RSVP to drop it off at their warehouse on an upcoming Collection Day (click the link to confirm the current schedule). Scroll down for more details and instructions on how to build a Restart Kit! Please note that you are responsible for dropping off any Restart Kits directly to the Refugee Care Collective's warehouse on their specified Collection Days.
